Why Choose Taylor?
- Fully Equipped Labs With Simulation Training
Taylor College provides labs that are fully equipped with the tools and equipment that you can expect to be using in your job as a Registered Nurse. In addition, our students train using specialized simulator manikins that offer a realistic training experience. These manikins are used to simulate a variety of scenarios that healthcare professionals may encounter and provide immediate feedback and evaluation on student performance. They’re a valuable tool for students to practice and perfect their skills in a safe and controlled environment!
- Clinical Training With Actual Patients
The Professional Nursing program includes 495 hours of clinical training. Beginning in your third semester and continuing through the end of your program, you’ll spend approximately 12 weeks per semester working onsite in actual medical facilities. During this special training you will have an opportunity to shadow a qualified professional and apply the skills you’ve learned during your campus labs, class lectures/discussions.
- Qualified Instructors
Taylor’s course instructors, lab instructors, and clinical instructors are Registered Nurses and are required to have at least 3 years of nursing experience. In addition, full-time instructors teaching Professional Nursing courses have a minimum of Associate of Science in Nursing degree. Students benefit from the real-world experience from instructors who have worked in the field.
- Transfer Credit Opportunity for LPNs Entering the Professional Nursing Program
A student who is currently licensed and practicing as a Licensed Practical Nurse whose license is clear of any disciplinary or administrative action will have his/her credentials reviewed. When the licensing credentials have been approved, a nursing skills test will be given. If the skills test is performed successfully without assistance from the examiner, the student course requirements for NUR1030 Fundamental of Nursing I and NUR1035C Fundamentals of Nursing II will be waived. A “Course Waived – CW” grade will appear on the student’s transcript. If the student fails the nursing skills test, the student will be required to take the NUR1035C Fundamentals of Nursing II course. Graduates of Taylor College Practical Nursing Program are exempt from the skills test.
- Extra Lab Availability
The Practical Nursing program offers lab time by appointment with instructors for students who are interested in, or may need, additional training on specific skills.
