We're Focused on YOUR Success as a Taylor College Nursing Assistant Student

The Nursing Assistant / Home Healthcare Aide is a trained healthcare professional who can work in many different care settings. Taylor College’s diploma program is designed for students who want to receive training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Students in the program participate in both classroom learning and supervised clinical experience. Clinical training takes place at an approved nursing facility under the guidance of an instructor. Classroom instruction includes both theory and practical skills such as anatomy and physiology, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and professional development courses that help students prepare for healthcare careers.

Grants from a local business partnership with Taylor College are available for full tuition funding for the Nursing Assistant program to students who qualify. Restrictions apply. Speak to an admissions representative for more information.

Upon completion of the program, graduates are prepared to take the Florida Board of Nursing Nursing Assistant Certification Examination and pursue entry level employment in the field.

Taylor’s course instructors, lab instructors, and clinical instructors are Registered Nurses and are required to have at least 3 years of nursing experience. In addition, instructors teaching Nursing Assistant courses have a minimum of Associate of Science in Nursing degree. Students benefit from the real-world experience from instructors who have worked in the field.

Taylor College combines qualified instruction with the medical facilities, equipment, and instruments you’d find in most nursing assistant and home health care jobs.

National Level

ABHES is recognized by the Secretary of Education as a national accrediting body determined to be a reliable authority as to the quality of training offered by the educational institutions and programs it accredits. It’s approved and recognized scope includes degree and non-degree granting private, postsecondary institutions offering educational programs predominantly in allied health; and the programmatic accreditation of medical assistant, medical laboratory technician, and surgical technology programs. Nursing Assistants help patients with the tasks of everyday living. Their role is crucial to both the health care team and the patient and remains one of the most employed and essential health care careers today. In cases requiring long-term care, many act as the principal caregiver, develop close personal bonds with the residents and have a positive, caring influence in their patients’ lives.

Nursing Assistants are typically responsible for:

Taking medical histories and recording vital signs
Serving meals and helping patients eat
Cleaning and bathing patients
Helping patients dress
Assisting patients with toilet facilities
Turning and repositioning patients in bed
Recording patient feedback and concerns
Providing emotional support

After earning certification, graduates of the Nursing Assistant program may seek entry level positions in a variety of healthcare environments. These may include:
