This Exam Prep course is designed for individuals who have prior healthcare training and/or are licensed/certified in a healthcare field and/or are currently working in the healthcare industry. The course provides individuals with an understanding of the responsibilities associated with those of a Phlebotomy Technician. The course provides an overview of anatomy and physiology, the cardiovascular system, disease and wellness, and clinical procedures necessary to succeed as a Phlebotomy Technician, including the steps necessary to process laboratory tests in a hospital or physician's office lab. In addition, the course promotes communication skills, legal and ethical considerations, safety measures, and emergency response. Upon successful completion of this course, a Certificate of Completion will be issued.

Upon successful completion of this course, individuals will have the opportunity to apply for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. Prior to applying for the exam, individuals must complete 40 live sticks (30 venipuncture and 10 capillary) and supply documentation of those sticks with their application to NHA. The application and testing fee must be submitted by the individual to NHA prior to receiving a test date. For more information, please visit www.nhanow.com.
Taylor College is a testing site for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Individuals who submit their application and testing fee to NHA can take the Phlebotomy Technician certification exam at the College.
Clinical skills will be practiced in the classroom lab setting. Upon successful completion of this course Individuals will have the option to participate in a clinical experience* to practice hands-on skills and complete the required number of sticks for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam eligibility. in a professional clinical environment.
*Please note that the clinical site assignment is assigned for one of the weeks following the actual course and is at least 1-week in duration, on weekdays and on day shift. If appropriate, an individual may have the option to complete this portion at their current place of employment.
The Phlebotomy clinical experience will be completed in a professional setting. Individuals participating in the clinical portion of the course, at a facility assigned to you by Taylor College, are required to successfully pass a Level ll Background Check. In additional, to be eligible for the Phlebotomy Technician Certification Exam, all Individuals must complete 40 live sticks (30 venipuncture and 10 capillary). An individual must have an ID badge to perform the live sticks in a clinical setting. Badges can be obtained from the school's reception area.

Exam prep courses are excluded from accreditation with the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), and licensing from the Commission for Independent Education, CIE.
