Taylor College is a private post-secondary institution of higher education serving central Florida. The college offers campus-based and hybrid career-focused associate degree and diploma programs as well as continuing education and test preparation courses, leading to professional licenses and certifications in a variety of healthcare fields.
Our History
Taylor College was established in 1999 as a Professional Health Training Academy and offered healthcare training to residents in Central Florida. In 2006 the school was granted accreditation by the Council on Occupational Education.
The institution experienced significant growth in 2008 and changed its name to Taylor College to accurately reflect the mission and programs offered to the community. During 2008 Taylor College started the application process with the Florida Board of Nursing to offer a licensed nursing program.
That same year, classes were offered at a newly established campus in Belleview, Florida. The campus was facilitated with classroom skills labs and administrative/faculty offices.
In December 2009, Taylor College was licensed by the Florida Board of Nursing to offer a Practical Nursing diploma program and the Licensed Practical Nurse to Associate Degree Nurse Bridge program. In February 2010, the Professional Nursing Associate of Science Degree program was approved by the Florida Board of Nursing.
The Physical Therapist Assistant program started the first cohort in January 2012 and achieved initial accreditation in September 2013 with the Commission for Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), probationary accreditation from November 2013 – April 2015 and accreditation in April 2015.
In December 2014 Taylor College formed a partnership with HCP Taylor Holdings, Inc., parent corporation, and operated as Taylor College, Inc., d.b.a. Taylor College, as a private institution incorporated under the laws of the State of Florida.
In early 2016, Taylor College began the application process to the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) for programmatic accreditation for the Professional Nursing and Practical Nursing programs. During the application process ACEN recognized the Professional Nursing and the Licensed Practical Nurse to Associate Degree Nurse Bridge as one associate degree program. In July 2017 Accreditation was approved by ACEN for the nursing programs.
In 2018 the institution was granted accreditation with the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). The Institution is also approved by the U.S. Department of Education to administer Title IV Pell Grants, Direct Student Loans (DSL), and Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS).
In July 2020, Taylor College, LLC (d/b/a Taylor College), a wholly owned subsidiary or Education Evolve, LLC, purchased the assets of Taylor College, Inc.
In September 2023, Taylor College moved to its new location in Ocala. Located at 2531 East Silver Springs Boulevard (next to Heart of Florida Health Center), the college welcomed students back to class at the new facility on September 18, 2023. The new facility features updated classrooms and technology specific to each program that mirrors real-world settings all under one roof. The new campus was designed to bring the school together as one community and provide an exceptional student experience. The building features flexibility, providing students the ability to easily access all that Taylor College offers, including a center hub containing the learning resource center, career services and student services departments.
Taylor College has grown significantly from its small beginnings 20 years ago, and now serves a growing population of students across two degree programs, two diploma programs and additional short-term courses. The school remains committed to its mission of serving the career and personal goals of students and meeting the employment needs of businesses in the local region.
