Course Description

Total Course Length: 3 Weeks

Delivery Method: On Campus

Course Outcomes: These outcomes are adapted from the core knowledge that the NHA expects you to know to successfully pass their test.

  • Provide basic patient care – bathing, feeding, catheter care, etc.
  • Acquire, distribute, and administer patient care supplies
  • Perform safety checks and ensure cleanliness in patient rooms
  • Accommodate any additional patient needs
  • Obtain EKG readings and monitor vital signs
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families, particularly coping with grief and death

Certification

Once a student has completed this course, they will have the option to apply for the exam to become a Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). During enrollment with the NHA, students will have to attest to completion of GED or High School Diploma. Testing to become a Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant is conducted by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). An application and testing fee must be submitted by the student to NHA prior to receiving a testing date. For more information, please visit www.nhanow.com.

Testing Site

Taylor College is a testing site for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Individuals who submit their application and testing fee to NHA can take the Phlebotomy Technician certification exam at the College.

Non-Credit Courses

Taylor College’s exam prep courses are designed to prepare individuals for professional opportunities and advancement in their current field of study or area of employment. Individuals receive hands-on education through the guidance of qualified faculty in both practice and theory, all reinforced with interaction with professionals in specialized industries.

Exam prep courses are excluded from accreditation with the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), and licensing from the Commission for Independent Education, CIE.
